A stock exchange is a legal entity established as a joint stock company with a stock exchange license, engaged exclusively in organizing and managing a regulated market. A stock exchange shall organize public trading of government securities, corporate securities and derivative financial instruments.

Public trading in securities and derivative financial instruments may be conducted only after such securities and derivative financial instruments have been admitted to trading in accordance with the internal rules of the stock exchange. Public trading means transactions arising from the initial or secondary offering of securities or derivative financial instruments to an unspecified number of buyers. Securities and derivative financial instruments admitted to trading in a regulated market may be traded only through investment firms and banks engaged in the provision of investment services (operations).

The stock exchange shall:

• ensure that trading conducted on the exchange is fair and transparent.
• ensure the participation of its members in trading, whether directly or remotely, in accordance with its internal rules.
• organize and conduct trading in securities and derivative financial instruments.
• operate and maintain its trading system.
• • organize public offerings and the placement of securities.
• establish requirements for securities and derivative financial instruments admitted to trading on the stock exchange, as well as for their issuers.
• provide its members with access to the trading system to enable trading on the stock exchange.
• monitor transactions executed in its trading system.
• monitor financial standing of its members in connection with their activities in the stock exchange.

Currently, the only stock exchange operating in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the Baku Stock Exchange  http://bfb.az/
