IBAN - The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is a bank account number created under ISO 136161 set by the European Committee for Banking Standards (ECBS) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) provided by financial institutions to customers. The goal of application of the IBAN to bank accounts in Azerbaijan is to unify bank accounts in banks, the national operator of postal communication that provides postal – financial services, the State Treasury Agency under the Ministry of Finance (hereinafter – financial institutions) based upon international standards.

- Correspondent and sub-correspondent accounts opened by the Central Bank for commercial banks were switched to the IBAN structure on 12.03.2012 and used on a real mode. Customer accounts were switched to the IBAN structure on 07.01.2013 and used in a real mode.
